Army, Bucknell and Loyola Earn Wins in Saturday Women's Basketball League Action

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Despite Winter Storm Jonas making its way across the East Coast, three games played as scheduled with Army West Point, Bucknell, and Loyola Maryland all earning wins in Patriot League women's basketball action on Saturday. The Bison improve to a perfect 8-0 record in League play, after a 74-56 win over Boston University, and reach the mark for the first time in program history. The Black Knights earned its fourth-straight Star Game with a 75-38 victory over Navy, which was the largest margin in a Star Game by either team, while the Greyhounds held Colgate to just one field goal in the fourth quarter to capture a 65-49 road win.

* Army West Point/Navy - A 16-2 lead to open the game paved the way for the Black Knights to cruise to a 75-38 victory over the Mids at Madison Square Garden in New York City on a snowy Saturday ... Army captured its fourth-straight Star Game winning by the largest margin in the women's basketball Star Game history ... The Black Knights set the tone in the first, outscoring the Mids 25-9 in the first period, and also held the academy rivals from Annapolis to single digits in the second half of the game ... Senior Kelsey Minato posted a game-high 22 points, which included a 4-of-8 mark from long range ... She also contributed five rebounds and four assists for Army ... Classmate Jean Parker finished with 15 points, shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc ... Sophomore Destinee Morris and Aliyah Murray added eight points each ... Sophomore Taylor Dunham led Navy with nine points, while junior Sarita Condie pitched in eight.

* Bucknell/Boston University - After falling behind 18-17 after the first period, the Bison outscored the Terriers 19-7 in the second to help propel the squad to a 74-56 win over the visitors in Sojka Pavilion on Saturday ... Bucknell improves to a perfect 8-0 for the first time in program history ... The game featured 10 ties, all of which happened in the first two periods ... Tied at 25-25 with 3:16 left in the second quarter, the Bison scored 11 straight points to end the first half, 36-25 ... Shortly after the third began, Boston University brought the home team's lead down to nine but it was the closest the Terriers would make it, as the Bison lead by as much as 23 points in the final period ... Sophomore Jacquie Klotz posted 21 points and also hauled in 13 rebounds for her eight double-double of the season ... Junior Claire DeBoer also netted 21 points, while adding five rebounds, four assists, and two seals ... Senior Tyler Craig also reached double figures with 10 points ... BU was led by junior Meghan Green, who scored 18 points on a 7-of-13 mark from the field.

* Loyola Maryland/Colgate - The Greyhounds held the Raiders to just one field goal in the fourth quarter to collect a 65-49 road win on Saturday at Cotterell Court ... Colgate stayed within reach of Loyola Maryland, coming back from a 16-10 first quarter to end the second period trailing by three, 31-28 ... The home team chipped away and then finished the third down by just one, 47-46, but the Greyhounds halted them with an 18-0 run to open the final frame ... After a timeout by the Raiders, junior Katie Curtis hit a trey at 2:44, but it would be the final points of the game for either team ... Senior Colleen Marshall posted a game high 27 points along with five assists ... Classmate Jeneh Perry recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Lisa Mirarchi pitched in 12 points ... Senior Josie Stockill led the Raiders with 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, while Curtis chipped in 10 points and added three steals.

Due to Winter Storm Jonas, schedule changes were made to the American-Holy Cross game as well as the Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry match. The Eagles will play the Crusaders in Worcester on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 7:05 p.m., while the Leopards will head across town to Bethlehem to take on the Mountain Hawks on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. The rest of League action will pick back up next Saturday, Jan. 30.
